Cards of Care began in September 2023 with a group of high school students volunteering at a VA hospital. What started as awkward moments walking through the halls quickly turned into lively conversations with the veterans we met. We realized that these interactions were more than just visits; they were meaningful connections that brightened the days of those who had served our nation.
Inspired by the impact of our conversations, we decided to take our efforts a step further. We began creating and delivering personalized cards, each one crafted with care and filled with heartfelt messages from us. These cards brought joy and comfort to the veterans, and we saw firsthand how a simple gesture could make a significant difference in their recovery.
Recognizing the power of these personal connections, we wanted to give others the opportunity to contribute in a similar way. We started placing donation boxes in our community, inviting people to write their own sentiments and well-wishes. This nonprofit allowed us to bridge the gap between veterans and the community, ensuring that they felt valued and supported.
